Half The Sky

‘Half The Sky’ is the title of a very powerful book by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. In their book they speak about the indignities inflicted on women around the globe, intentionally or otherwise, and that it’s a moral burden we all must bear.

While self-esteem and self image is not the focus of their book I feel like it’s still relevant. Women bear the heavy burden of expectations regarding the physical appearance of their breasts. But breasts are as varied and diverse as shells on a beach. I wanted this collection of shells to reinforce that idea especially for those women who have journeyed through breast cancer.
